Mr. & Mrs. Julio Cotto

What did the officiant do to make you feel comfortable?
Shiela made ou weding truly ours. She took the time to get to know us and created the most personalized ceremony imagineable. She crossed every T and dotted every i throughout the entire process and we knew from the day we booked her that he very crucial portion of our union was in good hands.
What did he/she add to the ceremony that you least expected?
Incorporated everyone in attendance in our ceremony. Her recollection of detail about us was amazing, as if she knew us from the early days.
What did you have to provide before the ceremony to make it more personalized?
Mostly information and some menial items that are now some of our most values and memorable symbols of our union.
What were your guests' comments on the ceremony?
Dear Sheila, Words can not begin to properly express the gratitude Raquel and I have for the amazingly perfect ceremony you performed. We have received numerous compliments about how personal and elegant the ceremony was. We have repeatedly been told how our guest have never been to a wedding ceremony like ours. Words like "unique", "elegant", "personal", "beatiful", and "special" have filled our voicemail and they are all compliments to you. How personal and simply beautiful it was. I believe I will be getting tons of request for your number. We can not stop thinking about how perfect you made our wedding. We thank you and we love you, if our ceremony is any indication of how our marriage will be then we have a wonderful future ahead of us. I am so glad our paths crossed when they did, it was truly a match made in heaven. You were meant to marry us. Thank you and all the blessings and good fortune to you. Mr. & Mrs. Cotto

Johnson/Summer Solstice Wedding
10/15/2008
What did the officiant do to make you feel comfortable?
Sheila is a people person! She is full of wonderful energy and a warm spirit! She listened closely to our story of how we met and related it back in the ceremony with added humor which delightfully surprised us! Shelia was able to translate our specific needs into a beautifully orchestrated ceremony. She gathered our excitement and nerves into a relaxing and fun and down-to-earth yet serious wedding. We were both applauded for how cool, calm and collected we looked, but it was because Sheila was able to keep us smiling. Sheila was also polite and friendly to our families. Everyone commented on how she was a great director and ceremony leader.
What did he/she add to the ceremony that you least expected?
Our story of how we met. It was grreat!
What did you have to provide before the ceremony to make it more personalized?
All we had to do was explain to her our backgrounds, our families' religious backgrounds, what we didn't want and we sort of knew what we did want. Sheila was able to fill in blanks with exactly what worked for us - such as spiritual love stories, a handfasting that didn't accentuate paganism, but honored Love as all traditions do.
What were your guests' comments on the ceremony?
EVERYONE LOVED HER! It was our favorite part of the day!

Perfect Joy
10/15/2008
What did the officiant do to make you feel comfortable?
Basically held my hand before, during and after - from the moment we spoke on the phone her comforting words (breathe, everything is going to be perfect) I knew Rev. Sheila would deliver.
What did he/she add to the ceremony that you least expected?
Originality, Magic, love and care. Rev. Sheila was very careful how she handled each aspect of our interesting family relationships. Rev. Sheila included everyone in our families with small but important rituals.
What did you have to provide before the ceremony to make it more personalized?
Just our time and an open heart. She handled the rest.
What were your guests' comments on the ceremony?
Tears - laughter - smiles - and nods of - wow! that was great.

The Habersham Wedding - August 26, 2007
10/15/2008
What did the officiant do to make you feel comfortable?
We were very concerned about our children's thoughts and reaction to us getting married as this was the 2nd time around for both of us. I met my husband's children twice and they probably met my son twice prior to learning we were tieing the knot. Needless to say, they were not receptive. Rev. Dr. Sheila Gay Gross addressed our concerns by meeting with all 5 of us at her home. She was very personable, patient and engaging with us especially with our children and we all walked away with a lighter, better understanding.
What did he/she add to the ceremony that you least expected?
Rev. Dr. Gay Gross was very specific about what to expect on our special day, however, we had no clue until we were standing at the alter that she planned to share the thoughts we had of each other when we viewed each other's pictures for the first time online. We both were unimpressed with each other's picture, however, we enjoyed each other's profile. Wynton, sent me an impressive email and the rest is history! It was unexpected, romantic and funny! It really added a nice touch to our ceremony and it was clear our guests enjoyed the details especially those who were still shocked that we met and got married in less than six months.
What did you have to provide before the ceremony to make it more personalized?
Prior to our ceremony, we had a "Tasting" at The Grey Cliff where our wedding was held and we asked Rev. Dr. Gay Gross to join us. We spent 2 hours getting to know each other and answering Dr. Gay Gross' detailed questions regarding how we met, what our first thoughts of each other were and what our future goals are. Also, we told the Rev. that we wanted to write our own vows so she told us NOT to share them with each other but to send them to her prior to our wedding day.
What were your guests' comments on the ceremony?
So many guests came to us after the ceremony and marvelled at Rev. Dr. Gay Gross' performance. The popular question was where did you find this woman? So many guests told us our wedding was by far the most romantic, hearfelt and enjoyable wedding they had ever attended. My husband and I attributed that mostly to Dr. Gay Gross who definitely set the pace. Thanks again Rev. Dr. Gay Gross for EVERYTHING!!!

Our fun wedding ceremony!
10/15/2008
What did the officiant do to make you feel comfortable?
She let us add as much or as little of our religion into the ceremony as we wanted. She really made it a Christian ceremony for us, even though she may not share our exact beliefs. She never made it an issue, which was very important to us, and made us feel very comfortable that she knew just what she was doing.
What did he/she add to the ceremony that you least expected?
During the ceremony, we realized that there was no glass of wine for our communion part of the ceremony. So instead of cutting that part out, she thought on her feet and continued along with the ceremony using "invisible" bread and wine. It was really special and I'm glad she "made it happen"!
What did you have to provide before the ceremony to make it more personalized?
We met with Sheila twice before the ceremony. She took very detailed notes on the questions she asked us. She wanted to know all about our families, one another, and what we wanted our ceremony to be. From here, she was able to suggest some really awesome ideas and readings that we could choose from to include in our ceremony to make it personalized for us.
What were your guests' comments on the ceremony?
Everyone, and I mean everyone, absolutely loved it. It was non-traditional, and fun!! There's no reason a ceremony has to be boring and serious. We were able to really express who we were in this ceremony. People are still talking about my wedding and how much they loved that they got to pronounce us husband and wife along with Sheila!
